Hello! I’m Rebecca.
I have been living and working in Korea for around four-and-a-half years now. I knew since the day I got off the plane that I wanted to make this amazing country my home for life.
While I can’t claim to be the most well-travelled of expats in Korea, I feel like I strike a healthy balance (for me, at least) of adventure and comfort, enjoying travel in and out of Korea, but also enjoying my home comforts in my little one-room together with my boyfriend and cat.
Regardless of where I am and what I’m doing, however, one thing has been consistent: I haven’t been saving enough! Though day-to-day I have tended to live fairly modestly, I have always ended justifying huge purchases which destroy my already modest savings. This cycle has been going on for years, and it’s time to stop.
I have been dreaming of renting my own apartment in Korea for years now rather than just existing in my (decent but tiny) school-provided studio. I would love the feeling of living somewhere that is mine, and that doesn’t depend on my employment status. However, as long as I keep wasting my money away bit by bit, that dream is never going to transition into reality.
So, join me on my journey as I discover how to be frugal in Seoul. Perhaps together we can learn a thing or two!
